TeenBeat’s shimmery grail may not have even come via Unrest. Eggs’ “Ocelot” still reigns (and the band’s singer, now in media, remains a beacon) in my world.

Especially emblematic was the white vinyl 45”, which preceded the “Party Mix” eventually committed to the Bruiser LP . That’s one 7” I wish I hadn’t given to my friend Saiman before I left SF to return east.

(On the other hand, I know he traded in those records I left him for newer ones and if you had a musical recording you held dear, wouldn’t you want it to end up at Amoeba? That way at least we know it’ll find a good home in a true music lover’s collection. Yes, I’m saying that anyone who shops at Amoeba is a music lover. If they weren’t prior to entering its realms, the experience of doing so would be transformative.)
